Last year, more than 50 million Americans received some form of stimulus check from their states. While these payments were not as large as the federal stimulus checks provided for 2021 pandemic relief, they certainly had an impact on families hit by inflation.
If you are an eligible taxpayer in one of the states that sent a one-time rebate check or other relief payment, you should have seen this money by now. If not, you need to figure out what went wrong in order to view that check. The problem could be as simple as an outdated address, or your 2021 tax return was not filed correctly Here are all the states that sent relief checks in 2022, so you can double-check that you qualify and then proceed to track down your missing payment.
State of Alaska
The Alaska Department of Revenue began issuing checks for $3,284 on September 20, 2022, but some checks are still on their way to eligible residents. You can check the status of your payment here.
California
More than 31 million Californians have received inflation relief checks of up to $1,050, depending on the status of their application. This online tool will estimate your payment amount based on your income, your application status, and whether you have dependents.
If you believe you are eligible but do not receive a payment by February 14, 2023, please contact California Franchise Tax Board Customer Support at 800-542-9332.
Colorado
State residents who file their 2021 return by June 30 should receive a physical check for $750 by Sept. 30. Filers who receive an extension and file by the October 17 deadline should receive a refund by January 31, 2023.

Connecticut
The deadline to apply for a child tax refund is July 31, 2022; the state begins payments in late August. Unfortunately, if you missed last summer’s deadline, you’re out of luck now.
Delaware
A stimulus check for $300 will be issued beginning in May 2022 to residents who submit their 2020 taxes. If you have questions about the status of your tax refund, visit the Delaware Department of Treasury website.
Florida
Last year, nearly 60,000 Florida families received a one-time payment of $450 per child. From July 25 through August 7, 2022, checks should have arrived for the following types of residents:
Foster parents
Custodial Assistance Program participants
Recipients of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) assistance
Relative caregivers
Non-relative caregivers
If you did not receive a check and believe you should have, you may consult with the Florida Department of Children and Families or call 850-300-HOPE.
Georgia
By May 2022, Georgia residents who file both their 2020 and 2021 income tax returns should receive these check amounts based on their filing status: up to $250 for single filers and married individuals filing separately from their spouses, up to $375 for head family filers, and $500 for married couples filing jointly.
Most residents who filed their 2021 state returns by April 18, 2022 should receive payment by early August. If you are still waiting, please visit the IRS website. You can also check the status of your state income tax return here.
Hawaii
Residents who filed a 2021 Hawaii income tax return for tax year 2021 with at least nine months of residency should receive $100 to $300 per family member. You are not eligible for 2021 if you (1) are claimed as a dependent on another person’s federal or Hawaii tax return, or (2) are a convicted felon in prison, or (3) were convicted of a misdemeanor and sentenced to prison for all charges.
Direct deposit was issued in late August, but physical checks were not issued until the week of October 17, 2022. For more information, visit the Hawaii Department of Revenue website or call 808-587-4242.
Idaho
Residents who file their 2020 and 2021 Idaho income tax returns by the end of 2022 are eligible to receive this payment. The two rounds of payments are due in March 2022 and September 2022. You can use the Idaho State Tax Commission’s online tool to track your tax refund payments.
Illinois
Checks of up to $300 will be issued to qualified Illinois residents beginning in September 2022. If your adjusted gross income on your 2021 Illinois tax return is less than $200,000 (less than $400,000 for joint filers), you may be eligible for an income tax refund. Alternatively, if you paid Illinois property taxes on your principal residence in 2021 and your adjusted gross income on your 2021 Illinois tax return is $250,000 or less ($500,000 or less for joint filers), you may qualify for a property tax refund.

Indiana
The first round of $125 rebates begins in May 2022 and the second round of $200 rebates should be delivered by the end of October.
For the first rebate, you must file your 2020 Indiana resident tax return by January 3, 2022. If you qualify for the first Automatic Taxpayer Refund (ATR), then you are eligible for the second. However, if you did not qualify for the first one, you can still get the second one if you (1) received Social Security benefits in 2022 and (2) are not claimed to be dependent on any other person’s tax return.
Indiana residents who do not receive a refund should contact the state’s Department of Revenue.
Maine
Maine taxpayers who filed a state tax return for 2021 and had adjusted gross income of less than $100,000 are eligible to receive $850 in direct relief in 2022. Couples filing jointly would have received a single payment of $1,700.
Checks were mailed in July 2022. You can use the Maine Department of Revenue’s online tool to track your tax refund payments.
Massachusetts
If you filed your 2021 state tax return after October 17, 2022, you should receive a refund approximately one to two months after the filing date. The refund is approximately 14% of an individual’s 2021 state income tax liability.

Minnesota
Certain Minnesota frontline workers are eligible for a $750 lump sum payment in 2022. Applicants should be notified by mid-August and payments will be issued on October 5, 2022. If you think you still owe, check the Minnesota Department of Revenue’s Where’s My Refund page.
New Jersey
Approximately 2 million New Jersey households receive a property tax rebate under the ANCHOR tax credit program. 2019 homeowners with a household income of $150,000 or less will receive $1,500; homeowners with a household income between $150,001 and $250,000 will receive $1,000; and eligible renters (those earning up to $150. eligible renters (with incomes up to $150,000) will receive a $450 tax rebate.
